Erhard Amadeus-Dier (1883-1969): Erotic Prints (Early 20th Century)

*

----------------------------------------------------------------------

A seller on eBay Austria has recently listed a series of small prints by the Austrian painter, graphic artist, designer, and musical composer Erhard Amadeus-Dier (1893-1969). Amadeus-Dier was most famous for his design of the Austrian Schilling paper banknotes from 1949-54. He studied at the Staatsgewerbeschule Vienna and the at the Academy of Arts, Vienna, which included a year of musical studies. He was an active participant in the resistance against the Nazi during WW II. I don't know about you but I love artistic erotica without all the crudeness you find in modern pornography. In this case, Amadeus-Dier used mythology and a lot of artistic creativity and a sense of humor to accomplish the deed. I have managed to figure out what some of them parady, see if you can identify the others...

ADDENDUM 07182012: Okay, mystery solved... the seller on eBay Germany has relisted these playful prints and has also listed the titles and here they are in the original French: Jugement de Paris, Le Berger, Jeu de Faun, Jupiter le pere des Dieux, Narcisse, Toilette de Venus, Le Tannhauser, Parsifal...... playful and funny.

Ganymede.... of course.

The Mirror of Venus....... I love it! ... as does Cupid apparently....

Hysterical..... a very unusual "Judgement of Paris."

It took me a while to figure this one out but: Narcissus
