Monogrammist "N.G." - Faun and Bacchants - Dated 1874

I just added this late 19th century drawing to my collection. It is signed "N.G." and dated 1874. It is most probably a drawing from the antique but still a whimsical work, one of my favorite subject matters.

Auktionshaus Michael Zeller, Lindau, DE has listed this beautifully executed male nude in their current auction catalog. Vratislav Nechleba (1885-1965) studied at the Prague Academy and took several study trips to Italy and Germany. From 1918 on he assumed a position as professor of art instruction at the Prague Academy. This beautiful work is signed and dated "1905."
