Several days ago I received a notification from Google Blogs that my Blog "Academic Nudes of the 19th Century" had been disabled for possible violation of their Community Standards regarding "harmful content" and unnamed possibly "illegal" items. I scratched my old head and wondered if I had posted anything that could possibly be construed as "harmful content" since my Grandchildren view the works and have never found anything objectionable! All of the works in my collection are purchased from legitimate sellers at Domestic and International Auction Houses and on various International eBay Auction sites where the works are on complete "public" display without censorship of any kind! The immediate answer to their question was a resounding: "No chance!" I do not post anything which could possibly be construed as prurient or pornographic in nature. There are plenty of places that kind of material can be obtained on the Web without my help! At first I thought this was a possible "phishing" attempt to gain personal information. Of course, I never click on a link in a suspicious email so I visited my Blog and sure enough the Blog had been "Suspended!" I went back to the Google email and followed the instructions regarding an appeal and explained that my blog was intended as a way of sharing my collection of artworks with students, interested educators, and that the blog was solely intended for educational purposes. I always provide biographic material on the artist responsible for the works I collect when I can readily find it. Fortunately the fine people at Google went back and reviewed the contents of this blog and this morning restored the blog to complete functionality.
I would like to extend a warm and heartfelt thanks to the people at Google Blogs for their understanding of the purpose of my blog and their restoration of my commentary about 19th Century artistic training and the long established educational use of the human nude in that training.
My sincerest thanks to the people at Google Blogs! Live long and prosper!
