Jean Didier-Tourne (1882-1967): Christ Healing a Sick Child

*
One of my favorite Parisian sellers on eBay France listed this interesting under-drawing on canvas this week. The religious subject matter was intended as a depiction of Christ healing the sick, but obviously the painting never made it beyond the preliminary drawing stage (been there, seen that). I love working drawings and I think a working drawing like this says so much about the artist and his native artistic abilities. Unfortunately, I have not been able to turn up much biographical information on the artist, but the drawing itself is well worth a second admiring look.

Heinrich Linde-Walther (1868-1939): Academic Study of a Nude Boy

*

Self Portrait of the artist

-------------------------------------

Auktionshaus Stahl, Hamburg, DE, introduced this beautiful Impressionistic Academic study of a nude boy by the well known German artist Heinrich Linde-Walther (1868-1939) in their recent auction catalog. I am not a big fan of Impressionism, (taxes my attention deficit disorder too much --- ooh, look over there... shiny!) but this painting really drew in my artistic eye, especially in the very competent way the artist has used color with that beautiful brushwork. Heinrich Eduard Linde-Walther was the brother of another well known German artist, Herman Linde. Linde-Walther studied at the Munich Academy and later at the Academie Julian in Paris. He was later a Professor at the Art Academy Lubeck.
