I have had this print bookmarked for several months now from a Gallery in Vienna and today I just said "hang it all" and just went ahead and bought it! There is just something about the composition that captivated me... all those nudes just foot loose and fancy free and not a care in the world! There are a few more Franz Wimmer prints available that I may buy later. I will have it framed and hang it beside the Erich Albert Lamm print: "Pferde Krieger mannlicher Akt Gruppe" - 1912. Here is short biography of the artist translated from the Italian:
"Franz Wimmer, Austrian, nude and landscape painter, graphic artist, printmaker, lithographer and woodcutter. Teacher. Born and died in Vienna (1892-1974). Pupil of Rudolf Bacher (painter and sculptor, founding member of the Viennese Secession in 1897, later president in the years 1904/5 and 1912-14) and Ferdinand Schmutzer (engraver and well-known portrait photographer [Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein, Franz Joseph, Richard Strauss , the Wiener Philharmoniker, Karl Lüger], member of the Viennese Secession in 1901). In the years before the First World War he published two albums of recordings, Danza macabra and Noi uomo! Author of several cycles of etchings for works by Reiner Maria Rilke (Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke ['Love song and death of the standard bearer Christoph Rilke'] and compositions by Franz Schubert."
