A French Gallery has listed a number of academic drawings (with a stiff price tag) by Auguste Leroux (1871-1954) from the time period of 1911.   Jules Marie Auguste Leroux (1871-1954) was a French painter and illustrator. His brother Georges Paull Leroux (1877-1957) was also a talented artist who won the Prix de Rome in painting in1906 and was a member of the Academie des Beaux-Arts. He entered the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in 1892 where he studied in the studio of Leon Bonnat (1833-1922). Leroux later gained success as an illustrator of books. As a skilled lithographer, he worked with some of the greatest engravers of his time. His first works were full of symbolism and art nouveau combined with references to mythology and allegorical subjects. His later works show greater academic rigor. His three children are renowned for their own artistic talents. Enjoy...
